strangers in the dark

breaks when someone says they’re sorry they can’t do something they choose not to

breaks when you don’t know better

breaks when you do know better

breaks when absence hangs in the air like the damp fug after a hot shower

breaks when you give in

breaks when you don’t

breaks when there is no end.

rain falls into the gutter

it’s almost cathartic.
